EKUC Adventist Men Director Calls for Mission-Oriented Men at Nyamira West Field Seminar

NYAMIRA WEST FIELD — More than 300 Adventist men leaders gathered at Nyamira West Field for a special seminar led by Pr. Julius Bichang’a, the Adventist Men Director of East Kenya Union Conference (EKUC).
The seminar, described by participants as the first of its kind at the Field after a long time, focused on strengthening Adventist men for effective ministry in the church, family and wider community.
Pr. Bichang’a outlined the mission, vision and objectives of the Adventist Men Ministry, challenging men to embrace their God-given responsibilities and become more intentional in mission.
“Adventist men must be mission-oriented. We should not only occupy positions in the church; we must actively participate in the mission of taking the gospel to the community,” Pr. Bichang’a emphasized.
Mentorship and Leadership
A significant part of the seminar focused on the importance of mentorship in developing future leaders. Drwaing the biblical examples og Jesus to His disciples, Paul to Timothy and Moses to joshua, Pr. Bichang’a encouraged experienced men to deliberately invest in younger generations and provide guidance both within and beyond the church.
“Mentorship is essential in the church, in our families and in the community. We must intentionally raise and guide the next generation of leaders,” he said.
He noted that effective mentorship can help preserve Christian values, strengthen
families and prepare young people to take responsibility in the church and society.
Concern Over the Boy Child
Pr. Bichang’a also expressed concern over what he described as the neglect of the boy child in society. He challenged Adventist men to take a more active role in raising, mentoring and supporting boys as they grow into responsible Christian men.
“We cannot afford to neglect the boy child. Our boys need men who will guide them, mentor them and help them understand their identity, responsibility and purpose,” he said.
He urged men to regard the family as an important mission field and to demonstrate Christian leadership through their daily lives.
Nyamira West Field Leadership Welcomes EKUC Initiative
The seminar was attended by Field leaders and Adventist men from different congregations within Nyamira West Field.
Pr. Zablon Nyanumba, Executive Secretary of Nyamira West Field, represented the Field President, Pr. Thomas Nyakundi who was attending official maters at the union. Pr. Stephen Okero, of the Communication Department represented Pr. Davis Saisi, who was attending to urgent matters. The NWF executive commitee lay members were represented by Elder Justus Maeche, an advocate of the High Court of kenya who appreciated the empowerment of the laity through the seminars.
Pr. Nyanumba thanked the EKUC Adventist Men Director for choosing Nyamira West Field for the seminar.
“We sincerely appreciate Pr. Bichang’a for this wonderful presentation and for choosing Nyamira West Field. This seminar has challenged and encouraged our men to take their responsibilities in the church, family and community seriously,” Pr. Nyanumba said.
He also commended the Adventist men for their participation and engagement throughout the seminar.
Men Challenged to Prioritize Their Health
The seminar also addressed the importance of men's physical health. Dr. Agrey Angwenyi of Victory SDA Church called on men to be proactive in taking care of their health and encouraged them to undergo regular medical check-ups.
He particularly urged men to have routine screening for conditions including high blood pressure, high blood sugar, arthritis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as prostate enlargement, stroke and memory-related problems, among other health concerns.
“A healthy man is a healthy society,” Dr. Angwenyi stated, emphasizing the connection between the wellbeing of men, their families and the wider community.
He encouraged men not to wait until they develop serious symptoms before seeking medical attention, but instead to make regular health assessments part of their lifestyle.
Men Call for More Seminars
The participants warmly received the seminar, with many expressing appreciation for the practical emphasis on mission, mentorship, family leadership and the welfare of the boy child.
Several Adventist men leaders called for more seminars of a similar nature, noting that continued training would help equip men for effective leadership and mission.
The seminar concluded with renewed emphasis on strengthening the Adventist Men Ministry and encouraging men to become active participants in the mission of the church, responsible family leaders and mentors within their communities.
