Pathfinders Take Centre Stage as Nyamira West Field Marks World Day

Pathfinders took centre stage across Nyamira West Field (NWF) on Sabbath, 19 September 2026, as churches throughout the Field joined the global Seventh-day Adventist Church in commemorating Pathfinder World Day.
The celebration, across the NWF, led by Pr. David Omayio, Youth Ministries Director, Nyamira West Field, brought together Pathfinders, leaders, parents, and church members in a day dedicated to celebrating the Pathfinder ministry and its contribution to the spiritual and practical development of young people.
Churches across the Field organized special Pathfinder programs, with young people participating in worship, presentations, demonstrations, and other activities. For many congregations, however, the day went beyond celebration as members took the opportunity to support and equip their Pathfinder clubs.
Several churches mobilized resources to strengthen their clubs, providing support for Pathfinder uniforms, camping equipment, training materials, and other ministry needs.
A Day to Invest in Young People
Addressing the Pathfinder community, Pr. Omayio challenged churches to view the ministry as an investment in the future of the church.
“Pathfinder World Day is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity for the church to recognize, appreciate, and invest in the young people who are being prepared for service,” Pr. Omayio said.
He appreciated churches that used the occasion to support their Pathfinder
clubs and encouraged congregations to maintain the momentum beyond the World Day celebrations.
“When we equip our Pathfinder clubs, we are investing in young people and preparing them for service to God, the church, and the community,” he added.
Camporee Registration Takes Centre Stage
Another common feature across the churches was the mobilization for the upcoming Nyamira West Field Camporee, scheduled for 26 November–6 December 2026 at Mission in Action, Nakuru.
The registration fee has been set at KSh. 1,000 per delegate, with Pathfinder leaders and churches encouraged to begin registration early.
Pr. Omayio called upon churches, parents, and Pathfinder supporters to work together to ensure that young people are able to participate in the camporee.
“We want every Pathfinder who qualifies to have an opportunity to participate in the camporee. I therefore appeal to churches, parents, and Pathfinder leaders to support our children and young people and ensure that registration is done in good time,” he said.
The camporee is expected to provide Pathfinders with opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, leadership development, practical skills, camping experiences, and service.
From Celebration to Community Impact
Even as Pathfinder World Day came to an end, the ministry immediately turned its attention to the community.
Pr. Omayio reminded Pathfinders that Sunday, 20 September 2026, would be observed as Community Impact Day, when Pathfinders would leave their churches to serve and make a practical difference in their communities.
“Tomorrow, 20 September, our Pathfinders will move out into the community for Community Impact. They will clean towns and markets, visit and support the less privileged, and participate in activities that bring a positive impact to the communities around them,” he said.
He emphasized that community service provides young people with an opportunity to demonstrate Christian values through practical action.
“We want our Pathfinders to understand that Christianity is not only what we say in church. It is also what we do for others. Through Community Impact, our young people will have an opportunity to serve, care, and make a difference,” Pr. Omayio added.
A Ministry Beyond the Church Walls
The Pathfinder World Day celebrations across Nyamira West Field demonstrated the ministry's three-fold emphasis on spiritual growth, practical development, and community service.
From celebrating Pathfinders in local churches and equipping clubs, to mobilizing for the upcoming Field Camporee and preparing for Community Impact, the day provided an opportunity for churches to renew their commitment to nurturing young people for service.
As Pathfinders prepare to enter communities on 20 September, the celebration continues beyond the church walls—with young people taking faith into action through service, compassion, and practical ministry.
