More Than 500 Children’s Ministries Teachers Commissioned for Nyamira West Field Camp Meetings
Nyamira West Field officially commissioned more than 500 Children’s Ministries teachers on July 19, 2026, at Victory SDA Church, Nyamira West Field Headquarters, ahead of the annual Children's Camp Meeting program. The teachers were deployed to 178 camp centres across the field to lead thousands of children in a week of spiritual growth and discipleship.
The briefing and commissioning ceremony was organized by Dr. Gladys Kebaso, Children’s Ministries Director for Nyamira West Field, who thanked the teachers for their impressive turnout and unwavering commitment to nurturing children in the knowledge of Christ.
"Your dedication to children's ministry is shaping the future of the Church," Dr. Kebaso said. "Thank you for responding to God's call to serve. I encourage every local church to continue supporting this ministry through prayer, resources, and active participation so that together we can fulfill our mission of leading children to Jesus."
Dr. Kebaso officially flagged off the teachers to the 178 camp centres, where they will conduct the 2026 Children's Camp Meetings under the field theme, "Obey and Live or Disobey and Perish; the Choice is Yours," based on Isaiah 1:19–20. Throughout the camp meetings, children will participate in Bible studies, sermons, health education, Footprints of Jesus lessons, music, prayer, and other activities designed to strengthen their faith and Christian character.
Speaking during the commissioning service,
Pr. Zablon Nyanumba, Executive Secretary of Nyamira West Field, expressed appreciation for the teachers' willingness to serve and assured them of the administration's continued support.
"Children are at the heart of the Church's mission. We are grateful for your commitment to this sacred responsibility and assure you that the field leadership stands with you as you minister across our camp centres," he said.
Also addressing the gathering, Pr. John Saota, Camp Meeting Coordinator, confirmed that all camp centres had been adequately prepared to receive campers and teachers.
"We have worked closely with local church leaders to ensure that every camp centre is ready. Necessary logistical arrangements have been put in place, and we are confident that God will bless this year's camp meetings in a special way," Pr. Saota noted.
The annual Children's Camp Meetings are among the Seventh-day Adventist Church's key discipleship initiatives, providing children with opportunities to grow spiritually through biblical teaching, worship, fellowship, and practical Christian living. By investing in the spiritual development of children, the Church continues to prepare a generation committed to serving Christ and sharing His love with others.
Reflecting the spirit of the camp meeting theme, the program calls every child to make a personal decision to obey God and experience the abundant life promised in His Word.
"The greatest work that can be done is to teach children to love God and to keep His commandments." — Ellen G. White, Child Guidance, p. 488.
